Southwestern Student Senate represented at state legislative event

Four Southwestern Community College Student Senate members attended the Student Legislative Seminar, hosted by Community Colleges for Iowa (CCforIowa) at Curate in Des Moines on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

During the event, students attending were welcomed by Emily Shields, CCfor Iowa executive director; heard 2026 legislative priorities, completed breakout session, were exposed to advocacy training; and got to listen in to a community college presentation to the House Higher Education Committee.

Student were accompanied to the event by Hailey Graham and Sydney Smith, Student Senate advisors.
