Make the creative app you wish existed, for yourself or your whole team, with no coding required.
Today, we're launching App Studio, a new, on-demand way to build custom creative software inside Runway. Describe the tool you need in plain language and App Studio builds a custom app with its own interface that generates images, video and audio using your Brand Kits and your Workflows. Use it yourself, share it with your team or publish a link anyone with a Runway account can use.
No two teams create the same way. Every creative workflow is shaped by years of doing the work: the references your team reaches for, the models they use and the steps that turn a rough idea into something that ships to customers. Today, that knowledge usually lives in one person's prompts and settings. Whoever figures out the right model, reference and prompt becomes a power user, and everyone else either waits for them to help or gets a different result.
With App Studio, professional creatives can turn their workflow into tools others can use, so the work is no longer limited by their own hours. Companies can turn their brand standards into software anyone on the team can use. App Studio turns years of institutional knowledge and creative expertise into a tool the whole company can run, so everyone on every team can get an on-brand asset the moment they need it.
LLMs and coding agents have given millions of people the ability to create software on demand, but those breakthroughs haven't yet translated to creative work. App Studio brings that same level of instant creation to anyone working with media, from brand and marketing teams to global advertisers and Hollywood studios.
App Studio is launching with a series of built-in apps from our team. Use any of them as they are, or remix them into your own:
You can also build custom apps for the work that only your team does:
Global architecture firm KPF used App Studio to build an app that brings its design renderings to life. Designers mark what should move in a still image, draw a camera path and get back directed video of the design.
"KPF has always pushed what's possible in design, and AI is part of that," said KPF Associate Principal Andy Christoforou. "Runway's App Studio lets us build our own AI tools around the way our teams work, so every designer in the studio can use them, not just a few specialists, all within our own environment."
KPF is one of many design partners that built dozens of custom apps during early access, each for work no off-the-shelf tool was made for:
If you already have an Agent session or Workflow that produces the result you want, you can turn it into an app in one click. Lock in the prompt, model chain and settings, then give teammates a simple interface with only the inputs they need. A teammate can upload a product photo and get an on-brand reshoot automatically, without needing to toggle through models or redesign prompts.
You can also start from scratch. A marketer can describe the app they want - say, an app that turns campaign briefs into mood boards - and get a shareable version in a single session.
App Studio writes, tests and deploys every app. You keep refining it in plain language, preview each change before you publish and roll back to an earlier version whenever you need to. The code stays visible for anyone who wants to inspect it.
As your brand evolves, your apps evolve with it. Update the workflow, references or your Brand Kit at any time, and new outputs reflect the latest direction.
At launch, apps can use Runway's image, video and audio models along with your Brand Kits, Workflows, Assets and References. Every app follows the same model controls as the rest of your Runway account, and publishing requires no API keys, hosting setup or separate infrastructure.
Every app is private to its creator until they choose to share it. Team and Enterprise customers can share apps with specific teammates, a project or the whole workspace. Customers on paid plans can also publish a public link: visitors see a preview you can customize, and can sign in with a Runway account to use the app on their own credits. Free users can use built-in apps and apps shared with them, and can upgrade to any paid plan to build their own.
When someone runs an app on their own credits, the output is theirs and saves to their Assets like any other generation. App creators choose whether assets generated in their app stay private, go to a project or go to the workspace.
Apps follow your existing model controls, so a model disabled in the admin panel is disabled in every app, and users see why. Admins can turn App Studio off by workspace and decide whether public links are allowed. Every Enterprise app link requires sign-in with an existing Runway account, and admins can see App Studio usage across every app in the workspace.
App Studio is included in every paid plan with no new purchase or add-on. Building, running and hosting apps all draw from your existing Runway credit balance, and each app shows its usage so you can manage spend across your apps and your workspace. If you share an app publicly, visitors pay for their own generations. You pay only to build the app, run generations yourself and keep it hosted.
App Studio is available to all paid plans now.
