Celebrate 150 Years of the Woodland Public Library with The Ultimate Library Challenge

In honor of its 150th anniversary, Woodland Public Library is proud to announce the launch of the 150 Years of Reading: The Ultimate Library Challenge, a yearlong reading and activity program designed for participants of all ages. The challenge will run from October 1, 2024 through October 2025, offering library patrons an exciting opportunity to read, explore the library, engage in fun activities, and win incredible prizes.

150 Years of Reading: The Ultimate Library Challenge is part of Woodland Public Library's ongoing commitment to inspire a lifelong love of reading, community involvement, and educational growth. Participants will log the books they read, complete activities offered at the library, and unlock milestones as they progress through the year. From infants to seniors, everyone is welcome to join in this legacy challenge.

How It Works:

  • Registration: Patrons can register for the challenge by visiting the library or signing up online at wpl.beanstack.org
  • Logging Books and Activities: Throughout the year, participants will log their reading and choose from a variety of library activities such as attending storytimes, book clubs, craft workshops, or exploring new collections and services.
  • Milestones & Prizes: Special milestones are set with participants earning badges, and entries into prize drawings for various milestones achieved.

Exciting Grand Prizes Await: Participants who reach the end of the 150 Years of Reading: The Ultimate Library Challenge will be eligible to win grand prizes, including:

  • A VIP library experience, where one lucky winner will get a behind-the-scenes tour and become "Librarian for a Day."
  • A sleepover at the library
  • A laser tag party for teens
  • And many more prizes tailored to various age groups, offering something for everyone!

Celebrating 150 Years of Community Impact: "This challenge is a celebration of Woodland Public Library's 150-year history of fostering education, community, and a love of reading," said Greta Galindo, Director of Woodland Public Library. "We want to mark this milestone by bringing the community together in a year-long celebration of literacy, creativity, and discovery. The Ultimate Library Challenge is for everyone, no matter their age or reading preferences, and we are thrilled to offer such amazing rewards to our dedicated patrons."

To commemorate this momentous year, Woodland Public Library will continue to host a series of special events throughout the challenge, including a Bookmobile Kickoff, a Women's History event, and additional family-friendly programming. Each event will celebrate the library's legacy while looking forward to the next 150 years of service.
