On Friday, July 4th, the Waco Fire Department deployed an engine company and a four-person crew to Kerrville, Texas in response to the catastrophic flooding that impacted the area. Upon arrival, the team immediately integrated into the local operations to support emergency 911 responses. Lieutenant Neil Cummings and Engineer Travis Brown also joined the search, rescue, and recovery operations along the Guadalupe River to help locate the missing victims.
This deployment was part of the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), a program that allows fire departments across Texas to provide essential support to communities in crisis.
We are proud of our fire personnel for their leadership, professionalism, and service during this ongoing disaster response. More than 2,000 local, state, and federal personnel are involved in the ongoing search and recovery efforts, strengthened by more than 12,000 volunteers.
Our thoughts are with the Kerrville community as they continue to recover from this devastating flood event.
