EMA and FDA establish common principles for the use of AI in medicine development
On January 14, 2026, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) jointly agreed on the ten guiding principles of good artificial intelligence ("AI") practice in medicine development.
These principles provide broad guidance for the use of AI across all phases of the medicine lifecycle, from research and clinical trials to manufacturing and market entry.
The European Union is also working on additional AI guidelines.
