On April 7, a delegation of Uzbekistan led by Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov visited Madrid of the Kingdom of Spain.
Within the framework of the visit, a meeting was held in Madrid with First Vice-President of the Senate of Spain Javier Ignacio Maroto.
Issues related to strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue and developing regular exchanges between legislative bodies were discussed.
It was underscored that there is significant untapped potential in bilateral relations, particularly in the field of economic diplomacy, and it was noted that the partnership between the two countries, rooted in a long shared history, continues to develop in a spirit of mutual respect, trust, and shared values.
On the same day, a meeting was held with José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain.
The discussions focused on further advancing bilateral relations, intensifying political dialogue, and expanding economic cooperation.
Following the negotiations, a Cooperation Plan between the Foreign Ministries for 2026-2028, an Agreement on the abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports, and a Memorandum of Understanding on diplomatic training were signed.
It was noted that the meeting would contribute to further strengthening multifaceted relations and the continued development of mutually beneficial partnership.
The delegation led by the Foreign Minister also participated in the Uzbekistan-Spain Business Forum held in Madrid.
New projects in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, transport, agriculture, construction, tourism, and other areas were discussed.
Opportunities for cooperation with companies including Aries & Leo Equity Holding, Future Farm Solutions, Almar Water Solutions, IMABE, KHESH GROUP, Banco Santander, Water Challenge, and Systemfoc were explored.
It was emphasized that there is significant potential and many promising areas for mutually beneficial cooperation, and that the forum would contribute to further expansion of economic ties, and gratitude was expressed to all partners who supported the organization of the forum.
