Mill Avenue paving to begin May 26

Starting May 26, crews will begin road adjustments, including removing the pavers in the intersections, for milling and paving from University Drive to Rio Salado Parkway. These are the last touches of the Downtown Tempe Refresh Project, which has included new electrical lines, a new irrigation system, new and wider brick sidewalks with artistic treatments, ADA updates and more than 120 new trees.

The road work will occur in three phases and during each phase, Mill Avenue and a portion of the intersecting streets off of Mill Avenue will be closed to all vehicle and bicycle traffic. Pedestrian and business access will be maintained, along with local traffic access in some phases. Work hours will vary depending on the phase and activity but some 24-hour work will be required. There will be periodic closures to the streetcar, please visit valleymetro.org/rider-alerts for more information.
