Arrive inspired: Delta cultivates 'Flow State' in flight and at Copenhagen's 3daysofdesign

For the first time, Delta and 3daysofdesign are teaming up to bring an elevated sensory experience - one that optimizes the brain for peak focus and mindfulness - to design enthusiasts this June and via a "Flow State Flight" connecting New York City to Copenhagen. Attendees of the festival will also enjoy a dedicated 'Flow State by Delta' space in the Symposium courtyard, a haven for connection, calm and community.

What is 'flow state'?

Stemming from the work of psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, "flow" describes a satisfying state of total immersion in what you are doing, one in which you experience deep enjoyment, creativity, and often lose track of time.

Perfectly timed to kick off the week of design-centric sessions and activities, travelers who are heading from New York City to Copenhagen on Delta Flight 218 on June 7 will have a one-of-its-kind opportunity to access this state of elevated consciousness before arriving through special, thoughtful offerings throughout the flight.

Recent Delta data found that 79% of global travelers agree that in an increasingly online world, experiencing something in-person feels more meaningful. Today's travelers are seeking authentic experiences beyond their devices, and sourcing creative inspiration from cultural gatherings like art and design festivals. Through Delta's dedicated 'flow state' experiences, the airline is helping travelers achieve a sense of focus, presence and wellness, priming them for creativity and fulfillment.

Catching calm and community: Delta takes off with 3dod in Copenhagen

At this year's festival (June 10-12, 2026), Delta will reimagine the Symposium courtyard space in collaboration with Copenhagen-based designer Yasmin Edgecombe, bringing 'flow state' to life through a design-forward lens rooted in Scandinavian principles of simplicity and functionality. The courtyard will be meant to support different creative states, from quiet, reflective moments to more open, communal settings that encourage conversation and the exchange of ideas. The space will host 3daysofdesign attendees for coffee, cocktails and the moments of interaction in between.

As one of the world's leading platforms for contemporary design and creative culture, 3daysofdesign - anchored by its 2026 theme, "Make This Moment Matter" - aligns with Delta's belief that travel and the time spent investing in it can be the very thing that sparks enlightened thinking.

"'Make This Moment Matter' speaks to the importance of being present, building meaningful connections and recognizing the value of the moments that shape how we live, think, and relate to one another," says Signe Byrdal Terenziani, CEO and Managing Director 3daysofdesign. "That perspective aligns naturally with Delta's belief that human connection and shared experiences across cultures open minds, inspire new ideas and create lasting impact."

Above the noise: Extending the creative experience into the cabin

Timed to the festival, Delta will be introducing a personalized in-flight experience designed to harness the inherent 'flow state' that many already are known to experience while in the air - this time with the help of thoughtful touches and the flight's crew. This journey is specifically designed to help travelers reset, focus and tap into their creativity in transit - positioning their time with Delta as part of the creative process.

Customers on this flight can expect immersive enhancements, such as:

  • A Flow State Essentials collection, complete with complimentary Loop Earplugs, Brick (a distraction-free tool) and Grown Alchemist hand cream
  • Supplies intended for drawing and doodling
  • A calming, guided group meditation experience
  • A curated "inspiration menu" of films, series and playlists available via seatback screens
  • A selection of Thrive Farmers Tea blends curated to support focus and relaxation
  • A complimentary three-month subscription to Calm Premium to support continued relaxation and mindfulness post-flight

Together, the flight and 3daysofdesign partnership form a continuous experience, designed to help travelers move seamlessly from transit to inspiration.

"In today's world, enhancing brain health is more important than ever. Achieving a flow state through activities like meditation, movies and documentaries or crossword puzzles can lead to better focus, mindfulness, calm, and resilience," said Dr. Henry Ting, Delta's Chief Health & Wellness Officer. "Through our partnership with 3daysofdesign, we're exploring how both travel and physical environments can support that mindset, helping people arrive ready to engage, create and connect."

A route with roots
