Holiday trees are not accepted in the trash container. Trees can be picked up as bulk trash -place the trees in the green organics pile during your scheduled week. Remove tree stands, nails, ornaments, lights, garland and tinsel prior to placement. Alternatively, you may drop off your holiday tree at the Sky Harbor Regional Transfer Station, 2425 S. 40th Street, during business hours.

Accepted items for blue bin recycling: It is important to ensure you are recycling correctly this holiday season. One wrong item can contaminate your entire bin and potentially send it to the landfill. See the list of recyclable items.

If you are looking to responsibly dispose of something that is not accepted in your trash or recycling bins, Tempe has two free drive thru options for properly diverting your waste from the landfill. Tempe and Guadalupe residents are welcome to drop off items at the Household Products Collection Center or the next Zero Waste Day on Jan. 31.
