WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY) released the following statement announcing the Committee's annual Worldwide Threats hearing for Wednesday, October 8, 2025. For more than a decade, across both Republican and Democrat administrations, this hearing has been held with the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC):
"America stands as the unwavering leader of the free world, and with that position of leadership come increasing threats to our way of life from highly sophisticated and dogged adversaries--from the Chinese Communist Party and the Iranian regime to a resurgence of terrorist groups and relentless transnational criminal organizations. Securing the homeland is an American imperative. Today's unprecedented threat environment demands a dedication to preparedness, unwavering resolve, and a unified, whole-of-government offensive against bad actors who seek to cause mayhem and destruction in our communities and in cyberspace.
"As the country faces these heightened and rapidly evolving threats, it is crucial for the House Committee on Homeland Security to hear directly from President Trump's senior officials so that we can ensure agencies have the resources and tools they need to fulfill their critical mission to protect the American people. This coordination also allows Congress to partner effectively with the Trump administration to continue its proven policies, especially the administration's unprecedented success in securing our borders after four years of chaos. I look forward to receiving critical insight in this hearing from all the invited witnesses on how this productive partnership with DHS, the FBI, and NCTC can deliver results for the American people."
