1/28/2026 - Ocean County Continues Snow and Ice Cleanup After Weekend Storm

OCEAN COUNTY - Following a major snowstorm that impacted Ocean County from Sunday, Jan. 25, through the morning of Monday, Jan. 26, county officials report that cleanup operations remain ongoing as crews continue working to restore safe travel conditions across the county.

More than 200 county employees worked around the clock to maintain approximately 630 miles of roadway, representing more than 2,000 lane miles, throughout Ocean County. Snow response operations were conducted continuously throughout the storm, requiring repeated passes on each roadway and resulting in thousands of lane miles treated and cleared as crews actively managed accumulation while snowfall was ongoing.

"Ocean County crews responded immediately to last weekend's storm and continue working to keep roadways as safe as possible," said the Director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners Frank Sadeghi. "With cold temperatures and the potential for another storm, our teams are doing everything possible to prepare and stay ahead of the conditions."

The County's snow response is a coordinated effort involving the Road Department, Bridges, Buildings and Grounds, Parks and Recreation, Solid Waste Management, and Vehicle Services. Vehicle Services plays a critical role by ensuring the county's fleet remains fully operational throughout extended storm response efforts.

"This level of response requires coordination and dedication across multiple departments," said Ocean County Commissioner Ray Gormley. "Our employees have been working long hours in challenging conditions, and their commitment is essential as cleanup continues and preparations are made for what may come next."

The Ocean County Board of Commissioners asks residents to remain patient as crews continue working safely and efficiently to remove snow and ice from roadways. Continued cooperation helps ensure that county teams can complete cleanup operations effectively and maintain safe conditions for all travelers.

Public safety remains the county's top priority as winter weather conditions persist.
