Governor-Elect Abigail Spanberger appointed Candi Mundon King as Virginia Secretary of the Commonwealth last week. This move results in King's House of Delegates seat becoming vacant. A Special Election will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, to fill the vacancy. Early voting begins Saturday, January 3, 2026. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is January 2, 2026.
REMINDER: The General Registrar's Office is located at 124 Old Potomac Church Road, Suite 205, Stafford, VA 22554.
All early voting will be available at 124 Old Potomac Church Road, Suite 205, Stafford, VA 22554. There will be NO early voting available at the George L. Gordon, Jr., Government Center. Early voting is available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., from January 5, 2026, through January 9, 2026. It will also be available on two Saturdays before the election - January 3, 2026, and January 10, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Absentee Ballot Drop Boxes are available during early voting hours and at the Registrar's Office during normal business hours from January 3, 2026, through January 13, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. A drop box will be available at all polling locations on January 13, 2026, from 6:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
