MLGW to Host Two Gas Safety Days in July

MLGW to Host Two Gas Safety Days in July
July 6, 2026

Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division (MLGW) will host two free Gas Safety Day events in July to educate customers about natural gas safety, damage prevention and the importance of calling 811 before digging.

The events will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates:

· Wednesday, July 8 - Midtown Hardware, 2500 Summer Ave.

· Wednesday, July 22 - Whitten Brothers Hardware, 2909 Park Ave.

Visitors can speak with MLGW representatives from several departments, receive educational materials and learn about safe digging practices, natural gas leak recognition and response, pipeline safety and Tennessee 811.

Whether installing a fence, planting a tree or starting another outdoor project, customers should always contact Tennessee 811 before digging. Having underground utility lines located and marked before excavation helps prevent service interruptions, property damage and serious injuries.

MLGW encourages customers to attend either Gas Safety Day event to learn simple steps that can help keep homes, neighborhoods and communities safe.
