MPD Investigating Northeast Homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Northeast.

On Friday, September 20, 2024, at approximately 11:04 p.m., officers responded to the 4500 block of Quarles Street, Northeast for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting but no victim. Moments later, the victim, an adult male, was located at a nearby DC Fire and EMS fire station. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died from gunshot wound injuries.

The decedent has been identified as 30-year-old James Gripper of Bladensburg, MD.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
