Santa Clara County Reps Announce Nearly $73M in Federal Funding for COVID 19 Related Expenditures

SAN JOSE, CA - Today, U.S. Representatives Jimmy Panetta (CA-19), Zoe Lofgren (CA-18), Ro Khanna (CA-17), and Sam Liccardo (CA-16) announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is reimbursing Santa Clara County for an additional $72,567,529.39 for emergency health and safety expenditures incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The COVID-19 pandemic impacted everyone's life, and amidst challenging times, Santa Clara County officials worked tirelessly to help protect and deliver important resources to our communities. We welcome these reimbursements, and we remain committed to ensuring our local governments are prepared for future challenges," said Reps. Panetta, Lofgren, Khanna, and Liccardo.

This funding was authorized by the Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act and appropriated through the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025, which Reps. Lofgren, Khanna, and Panetta voted in favor of and former Rep. Anna Eshoo, who then represented the 16th Congressional District, also voted in favor of.

This announcement follows recent, similar reimbursement news. Reps. Panetta, Lofgren, Eshoo, and Khanna announced $65,142,877.75 in May 2024, $27,243,534.79 in June 2024, and $45,185,047.39 in July 2024, $20,215,809.46 in September 2024, and $34,496,113.53 in October 2024for COVID-19-related expenditures for Santa Clara County.
