Prison escapee captured in Hyde County
Sheriff's deputies in Hyde County captured Francisco Cardenas this evening.

Sheriff's deputies in Hyde County captured Francisco Cardenas this evening. A tip from a resident led deputies to a section of US 264 East near Swan Quarter where Cardenas was located walking along a roadside and was arrested without incident.
Cardenas had been on the run since Thursday, when he escaped from Hyde Correctional Center, a minimum-security prison near Swan Quarter, where he had been serving a 5-to-8-year sentence for drug trafficking.
Cardenas will be charged with felony escape and housed in a higher custody level.
