National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

WHEREAS, professional public safety telecommunicators serve as the first of the first responders and constitute the essential link between citizens, victims, visitors, and public safety providers, offering calm and steady guidance in moments of crisis; and


WHEREAS, emergencies requiring police, fire, or emergency medical services may arise at any time, and the health and safety of all who reside in or travel through the Commonwealth remain a paramount priority; and


WHEREAS, the availability of 9-1-1 services is indispensable to the protection of life and property, and prompt response is vital to ensuring public safety; and


WHEREAS, the safety of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel depends upon the accuracy and quality of information obtained by the Commonwealth's telecommunicators; and


WHEREAS, public safety telecommunicators consistently demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and composure while providing critical assistance to callers in their moments of greatest need; and


WHEREAS, National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week affords the Commonwealth an opportunity to honor the dedication, skill, and tireless service of these indispensable professionals;


NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, do hereby recognize April 12-18, 2026, as NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
