On May 28, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus Zhou Yunliang held a press briefing on the upcoming China Film Week in Cyprus and the seminar on "China-Europe Dialogue in a Multipolar World." Permanent Secretary of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus Giorgos Papageorgiou, among others, attended the event. Journalists from around 10 major media outlets participated as well.
Chargé d'Affaires Zhou pointed out that this year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Cyprus, as well as the second anniversary of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. Organizing relevant events in this context carries great significance for deepening China-Cyprus friendship and promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. The Chinese Embassy is ready to work with partner institutions to ensure the success of the events and add another splendid chapter to China-Cyprus relations.
Permanent Secretary Papageorgiou noted that the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus stands ready to work with the Chinese side to make the Film Week successful and further promote bilateral cultural exchanges.
Ms Sotiroula Yiasemi, representative of Research Institute Promitheas, then introduced the arrangements for the seminar. Marios Elia, a renowned Cypriot artist, presented the creative concept behind the film The Sound of Shanghai.
Chargé d'Affaires Zhou also answered questions on China-Cyprus, China-Europe, and China-U.S. relations.
