Last week, the contractor continued to make progress on the new Hearn Avenue Overcrossing in preparation for the installation of the second half of the new bridge. This included the clean-up and off haul of debris from the bridge demolition and excavation of the bridge foundations.
Next steps include pile driving for the second half of the new bridge that will begin on Monday, June 30. This work will occur in the median on Monday and Tuesday night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Lane closures on 101 are necessary to facilitate the work. On Wednesday and Thursday, the contractor will move to the bridge foundation behind the DMV and work during the day, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Additional pile driving will occur and is expected to last several weeks.
Lane Closures - Northbound and southbound 101 on Monday and Tuesday nights from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Longer Work Hours - The contractor will be working 10-hour shifts during the week (Monday-Friday) and on Saturdays to advance to project and take advantage of the good weather.
Note that upcoming construction work is subject to change pending weather and actual work progress. As the work progresses, there will be increased construction noise.
During the construction of the overcrossing, please consider taking an alternative route such as Baker Avenue, as delays are to be expected on the Hearn Avenue bridge.
