Tegucigalpa, Honduras, July 8, 2025 - On July 3, the new Access to Information Policy of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) took effect. This clearer, more comprehensive, and modern regulation strengthens the institutional commitment to transparency, accountability, and openness. This update was approved by the Board of Directors in September 2024, following a public consultation process unprecedented in the Bank's history, which included the participation of various stakeholders. The new policy incorporates specific changes to facilitate access to information:
To implement this policy, CABEI has published a manual that will guide its practical application. In the coming months, progress will be made on other actions such as the launch of an open data platform, training for external audiences, the review of key documents in the operations cycle to ensure clear communication, and the modernization of technological tools, among other measures.
"This new policy is a concrete step forward in the transparency pillar of our Institutional Strategy 2025-2029. We are strengthening the way we share information because we believe in open management, focused on people and on results that generate impact," said the Bank's Executive President, Ms. Gisela Sánchez. For her part, the Director for Honduras and President of the CABEI Communications and Access to Information Committee, Mrs. Belinda Carías Martínez, said: "This is a firm step towards bringing the Bank even closer to the public. With clear rules, reasonable timelines, and greater openness, we are creating better conditions for trust, dialogue, and informed participation."
With these actions, CABEI continues to consolidate its position as a benchmark institution in the field of sustainable development, recognizing that transparency is an indispensable driver for achieving more inclusive, responsible, and transformative regional integration.
