Statement by Senator Elizabeth Warren on the UAE's "Spy Sheikh" Secret Stake in Trump Crypto Company

Washington, DC - United States Senator Elizabeth Warren, Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, released the following statement on new reporting revealing the UAE's "Spy Sheikh" bought a 49% stake in Trump's crypto company four days before Trump's inauguration and months before getting access to advanced AI chips.

"This is corruption, plain and simple. The Trump Administration must reverse its decision to sell sensitive AI chips to the United Arab Emirates. Steve Witkoff, David Sacks, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and other Trump Administration officials must testify in front of Congress on mounting evidence that they sold out American national security in order to benefit the President's crypto company - and about whether any officials lined their own pockets in the process. Congress needs to grow a spine and put a stop to Trump's crypto corruption."

Last year, Warren and Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) called for an investigation into the extent of Donald Trump, Trump family, and Senior Trump Administration officials, including Steve Witkoff and David Sacks, are cashing in on foreign crypto deals after reporting that exposed connections between the Trump family's cryptocurrency firm and an agreement giving the UAE access to advanced A.I. chips.
