2025 TAB Show Set to Explore New Emergency Alerting Tools, Rules

posted on 7.15.2025

- Alert FM, Futuri's BEACON, EAS Software Migration

The tragic Central Texas floods this month highlight the urgency of modernizing the existing emergency alerting tools employed by state and local emergency managers and their Radio and TV broadcast partners throughout the state, a topic that was slated for the 2025 TAB Show agenda well ahead of the July 4 disaster.

A panel of seasoned experts and newcomers to the mission will explore the viability of a proposal the FCC is considering to replace some EAS hardware with software, as well as the efficacy of Global Security Solutions' ALERT FM technology for bridging "last mile" gaps and Futuri Media's new BEACON program being piloted by the State of Florida's emergency management officials.

Alert FM is a distribution system already utilized in 13 states that is designed to rapidly send official emergency alerts via FM subcarrier and satellite to battery operated receivers, especially for areas with no power, internet or cell coverage.

BEACON is a content creation and processing system that generates, localizes, and delivers alerts across digital and broadcast platforms, with AI-enhanced language support, but has no facility or platform to send messages to the end user.

Panelists include attorney Davina Sashkin with Wilkinson Barker Knauer, Ed Czarnecki with Digital Alert Systems, Matthew Straeb with ALERT FM, and Marc Jaromin with BEACON.

TAB SHOW AGENDA-REGISTRATION-HOTEL

The program is one of 32 sessions planned for the 2025 TAB Show Aug. 6-7, with tracks for marketing executives, engineers and technicians, Radio programmers and station managers.

The content offerings complement the 125-booth trade show featuring the broadcast industry's top vendors all under one roof at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Round Rock - a perfect place to do business while taking one last summer splash with the family.

Registration fees are $155 for Members and $245 for Non-Members. Combined with the discounted hotel rooms rate of $225/night at Kalahari, the 2025 TAB Show is the best value for U.S. broadcasters seeking actionable content to increase revenue and reduce costs while exploring the latest studio and tower gear.

Additional fees are required for the Aug. 6 Golf Tournament, Golden Mic Club Dinner with Dale Hansen and the closing night Awards Gala to be emceed by CBS' Natalie Morales.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their spouses or families to enjoy one last summer splash at Kalahari's expanded outdoor water park and adventure river, indoor arcades and adults-only pool and swim/walk-up bar.

TAB has secured a rate of $107/night at the overflow hotel, La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Round Rock.
