BATHURST (GNB) - Villa Chaleur in Bathurst is joining the Nursing Home Without Walls program.
The program aims to meet the specific needs of each community by offering personalized services, such as in-person social visits, assistance in accessing government programs and services, and activities designed to strengthen social connections and reduce isolation.
"Providing this kind of support helps our seniors live independently for longer and maintain strong ties to their community," said Lyne Chantal Boudreau, minister responsible for seniors. "Our work continues, and I want to express my deep gratitude to everyone contributing to the implementation of this initiative."
Services offered through the program at Villa Chaleur will include:
· social connections and community engagement
· educational sessions
· access to information and support services
· wellness check-ins
· support for caregivers
· transportation
"With Nursing Home Without Walls, Atlantic Baptist Housing brings care, companionship and support directly to where seniors live," said Victor Shea, CEO of Atlantic Baptist Housing, which operates Villa Chaleur. "Our mission of adding life to years means helping people stay safe, feel valued and remain connected to the community - because growing older should never mean losing your sense of purpose or place."
"It is essential that seniors can age in a safe, respectful and equitable environment," said Social Development Minister Cindy Miles. "By expanding access to local services, we are helping to build more inclusive living environments where every senior can continue to thrive and fully participate in community life."
