Congresswoman Simon to Oppose Continuing Resolution

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) announced that she will oppose the Republican continuing resolution to extend current federal funding levels until September 2025. Of the funding bill, Congresswoman Simon said:

"This partisan funding bill cuts critical health programs, substance abuse treatment programs, life-saving research, tribal programs, K-12 education and higher education programs, much-needed transit improvements, clean energy investments, rental assistance programs, and more. The list goes on, and it is astounding. Moreover, this bill does not include disaster relief for fires ORguarantee that Medicaid, Medicare, or Social Security will be protected in the future. It is simply a lie for Republicans to advertise that this bill is good for the well-being and material livelihood of Americans.

"Instead of lifting up American families, this bill gives the Executive Branch an unsettling amount of power to specify where and how federal money should be spent-a responsibility that rests squarely with Congress and cannot be trusted in the hands of President Donald Trump.

"I will strongly oppose this bill on the House floor today."
