Boise Pro Soccer Groundbreaking

The professional sports landscape in Idaho is changing dramatically. Ada County Commissioners officially broke ground March 27, 2025, on a new soccer facility that will be home to Idaho's first professional soccer team.

The groundbreaking took place in front of the Turf Club on Ada County's Expo Idaho property. The former horseracing track, which has been mostly idle for ten years, is being transformed into world class soccer fields. Professional soccer games will begin in March of 2026. One year away!

"Professional soccer is good business for the soccer folks, but more importantly for Ada County, it allows us to best utilize our properties in ways that will benefit the lives of countless people now and into the future." Rod Beck, Ada County Commission Chairman. The sports fields area is roughly 27 acres and will be adjacent to The Park at Expo Idaho, which is scheduled to be completed in 2026 as well.

"The USL will be a league that will match the ambitions of our fans," said Justin Papadakis with the United Soccer League. "That means our fans deserve a first-class fan experience. Every game needs to be a match of consequence. Our players will live here and raise their families here."

"This project is a labor of love for Boise and the entire Treasure Valley," said Brad Stith, Boise Pro Soccer CEO & Co-Founder. "This is built for our community, and most importantly, it's built by our community."

"The downstream effects of having a men's and soon to be a professional women's team here in our community is difficult to encapsulate," said Bill Taylor, Vice Chair, U.S. Youth Soccer & Boise Pro Soccer Co-Founder. "The direct impact to our children who will now be able to watch live professional games, attend training sessions, participate in camps, and be scouted and identified, will provide opportunities they have never had."

The name of the team and the players have yet to be determined at this very early stage of the game, but it's in the works. This is all happening thanks to a 30-year lease agreement between Ada County and Boise Pro Soccer. The agreement signed February 21, 2025, means Boise Pro Soccer will pay the county $150,000 annually for the lease, with a portion of the income generated by Boise Pro Soccer being used to maintain the Park at Expo Idaho. No tax dollars are being used on this project. Boise Pro Soccer will remodel and retrofit both the Grandstands and the Turf Club. Ada County will retain ownership of the property.
