An Investiture Ceremony for Associate Justice Michael Drescher was held before a full courtroom of well-wishers at the Vermont Supreme Court on February 25, 2026. The ceremony began with Chief Justice Paul Reiber and Associate Justices Harold Eaton, Nancy Waples and Christina Nolan taking their places on the Supreme Court bench. Chief Justice Reiber welcomed guests including Governor Phil Scott, former Chief Justice Jeffrey Amestoy, U.S. Second Circuit Judge Beth Robinson, U.S. District Court Judge Geoffrey Crawford, U.S. District Court Judge William Sessions, U.S. Magistrate Judge Kevin Doyle, Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark, Justice Drescher's family and many friends and colleagues in the packed courtroom. Long-time friend of Justice Drescher and emcee Tom Anderson first introduced Justice Harold Eaton, whose eloquent remarks about the role of a Supreme Court justice are linked HERE, followed by personally heartfelt remarks from Justice Drescher's daughters Carolyn Drescher and Sunny Drescher and insightful remarks about the appointment process from Governor Scott. Justice Drescher's wife, Chrissie Drescher, and their daughters then assisted Justice Drescher with the robing ceremony before Justice Drescher addressed the crowd and took his place on the bench.
