Abraham Roman, Fire Chief
At approximately 7:31 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to reports of a structure fire at the Venetia Oaks apartment complex, located at 263 North San Pedro Road.
Upon arrival at the front of the complex, firefighters observed active fire coming from units at the rear of the property. Crews quickly confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated and that no one required urgent medical attention. Firefighters then deployed multiple hose lines into and around two attached, single-story dwelling units to begin fire suppression operations.
Fire crews were able to successfully confine the fire to the building containing the two affected units, preventing further spread within the complex or neighboring properties. The fire was declared under control in approximately 45 minutes.
Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters worked diligently to preserve, protect, and remove from harm, as much personal property as possible.
According to occupants, residents in both units heard loud noises before discovering fire on the rear decks. A total of four occupants-two from each unit-safely exited through the front doors.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The American Red Cross is assisting the four displaced residents from the affected units.
