WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) is supporting two bills in the House this week to make permitting faster and more transparent without compromising environmental protections. The Studying NEPA's Impact on Projects Act and the ePermit Act streamline environmental reviews and make the permitting process easier for communities, businesses, and federal agencies.
"These bills are about common sense and smart solutions," said Rep. Sykes. "They give us clear information about how permitting works, use technology to make reviews faster, and help projects move forward efficiently while protecting our environment. It is a win-win for communities, businesses, and federal agencies."
The Studying NEPA's Impact on Projects Act requires the Council on Environmental Quality to publish an annual report on NEPA's impact, including litigation data, review timelines, and costs.
The ePermit Act modernizes reviews with digital tools, sets consistent data standards, and creates a unified interagency system for sharing information.
Together, these bills represent a significant step toward smarter, faster, and more transparent permitting.
