Disaster Specialists Available in Multiple Communities in Washington This Weekend

CAMP MURRAY, Wash. - Disaster assistance specialists with FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be working at locations in Washington this weekend to help residents affected by the December storms and flooding.

Specialists will staff Disaster Assistance Centers to help people with FEMA applications and SBA loans and address questions about disaster assistance. FEMA outreach teams will also be at a variety of community events in affected communities. FEMA specialists carry photo identification and never charge for services.

In addition to meeting with a specialist, there are several ways to apply for FEMA assistance before the June 10 deadline:

Disaster Assistance Centers are accessible to those with limited mobility and have capability to interact with those who are deaf or hard of hearing and those who speak a language other than English.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest disaster loans to Washington businesses, private nonprofit (PNP) organizations, homeowners and renters. To apply online, visit sba.gov/disaster. For more information, call 800-659-2955. Those who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability may dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.
