Dana-Thomas House State Historic Site to host Downtown Prom pictures on July 17

SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Dana-Thomas House Foundation will offer free prom photos during Downtown Springfield Inc.'s Downtown Prom from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 17 inside the Dana-Thomas House State Historic Site.

Downtown Prom
, organized by Downtown Springfield Inc., encourages participants to dress in formal attire, dine at local restaurants and visit participating downtown businesses, museums and historic sites. Bars and other businesses will host prom-themed events with music and decorations throughout the evening. Business hours and activities may vary by location.

A professional photographer will be available at the Dana-Thomas House to take complimentary photos of guests dressed for the event. No tickets or reservations are required. Photos will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.


The Dana-Thomas House State Historic Site is at 301 E. Lawrence Ave. in Springfield. The home, built between 1902 and 1904, is perhaps the best preserved of architect Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie Style homes, with more than 400 pieces of specially made art glass and original furnishings.

The Dana-Thomas House Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1983 to preserve and protect the Dana-Thomas House and to promote public awareness of Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural significance.
