Discover nature this winter with MDC’s free mobile apps

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Families now have the opportunity for more outdoor activities this winter with the Missouri Department of Conservation's (MDC) free mobile apps - MO Conservationist Magazine, MO Fishing, MO Hunting, and MO Outdoors.

"We've made it easier than ever to find places to get outdoors and discover nature," said Laci Prucinsky, MDC Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center Manager. "Anyone with a mobile phone can easily find conservation areas closest to them with complete information on what's available. You can even read the latest issue of Missouri Conservationist on your favorite device."

• MO Conservationist Magazinekeeps you up to date on the latest research and happenings with fish, forest, and wildlife in Missouri with this new free application. Read quick blurbs on conservation news and events, in-depth articles, ways to discover nature, and browse captivating wildlife photography and videos. The Missouri Conservationist, an award-winning outdoor magazine, has been published since 1938 by MDC.
• MO Fishinghelps you find the best places to fish in Missouri. This free application will start by showing you bodies of water near your current location. You can refine the list by searching for a specific body of water, or a specific fish species. Each body of water will display whether there are boat ramps, parking lots and restrooms available. By clicking on the map, a user can see the spatial location of these facilities. The map also shows you the exact location of underwater fish structures MDC has established over the years.
• MO Huntinglets Missouri hunters, anglers, and trappers purchase, view, and store annual permits and associated details as well as view permits purchased during the previous year. This application allows hunters to notch their permit and Telecheck their harvest directly from their deer or turkey permit within the application. MO Hunting also enables hunters to view all deer and turkey that they have previously checked.
• MO Outdoorsuses mobile location data to show users conservation areas closest to their location. Users can see where they have quick access to fishing accesses, hiking trails, birdwatching locations, nature centers and shooting ranges. Based on the desired types of outdoor activities of birdwatching, camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, or shooting, users can look up what's closest to home, work, or even find something quickly when traveling.
