The Romanian Naval Forces have been participating, over 2 - 20 June 2026, in SEA BREEZE 26.1 Multinational Exercise, a training activity conducted alongside the allied and partner states' forces, which aims to increase the readiness level for the execution of joint operations and to strengthen the response capacity in crisis and conflict situations.
The exercise is led by the United States' Sixth Fleet and hosted by the Romanian Naval Forces, 307th "Heracleea" Marine Infantry Regiment. Approximately 450 military personnel from Romania, the United States of America, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey and Bulgaria are participating in the training sessions.
The training sequences take place in Babadag Training Area and include live fire exercises (LFX), tactical actions and a simulated amphibious assault. The soldiers practice planning and executing joint operations, coordinating participating forces and responding to scenarios specific to the current security environment in the Black Sea region.
SEA BREEZE 26.1 contributes to maintaining a high readiness level of the participating forces and to developing their capacity to conduct amphibious operations, joint tactical actions and missions executed in conditions simulating a modern conflict. The exercise reflects the joint commitment of Allies and partners to strengthen deterrence and defence capacity on NATO's Eastern Flank, as well as to maintain security and stability in the Black Sea region.
By participating in SEA BREEZE 26.1, the Romanian Naval Forces contribute to joint efforts to enhance regional security and confirm the readiness level and capacity of allied and partner forces to respond together to current and future challenges in the security environment.
