11th Korea-Japan Director-General-Level Middle East Policy Consultation

On February 6, Chung Kwang-yong, Director-General for African and Middle Eastern Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Iwamoto Keiichi, Director-General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, in Japan for the 11th Korea-Japan Director-General-Level Middle East Policy Consultation. The two sides exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East and their respective policies toward the region.

※ The Korea-Japan Director-General-Level Middle East Policy Consultation was first held in 2014. This 11th meeting took place three years after the 10th held in Seoul in August 2023.

The two sides assessed recent developments in the Middle East and agreed to maintain active and close information sharing between the two like-minded countries on Middle Eastern issues.

The two Directors-General, calling the 11th Director-General-Level Middle East Policy Consultation a valuable opportunity to broaden mutual understanding of their respective Middle East policies, agreed to further strengthen cooperation by continuing to hold the Consultation on a regular basis.
