Evelyn's Food Love restaurant and event space in Washington Park would add a rooftop deck and bar through a $483,000 Neighborhood Opportunity Fund (NOF) grant proposed to City Council today by Mayor Brandon Johnson.

The funding would help double the size of the business at 5522 S. State St. to approximately 2,900 square feet, increasing capacity from approximately 40 to 80 seats. Once complete, the work would create up to 15 additional full-time positions. Total project costs are estimated at $644,000.

The Neighborhood Opportunity Fund allocates fees paid by downtown construction projects to support commercial corridor investment on the South, Southwest and West sides. Grant amounts exceeding $250,000 require City Council approval.
