Penn State Mont Alto wins second straight PSUAC title

MONT ALTO, Pa. - Penn State Mont Alto captured its second consecutive Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference baseball championship and advanced to the championship game of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Small College World Series to cap another historic season.

Mont Alto finished the year with a 34-17 record, a PSUAC championship and a second straight appearance in the USCAA national title game.

Facing elimination in the PSUAC tournament, Mont Alto rallied from an 8-1 deficit to defeat Penn State Shenango 9-8 in extra innings behind two key late-game hits from Wyatt Kissel.

The Nittany Lions followed with a 9-2 win over Penn State DuBois before defeating Penn State Hazleton twice in the championship round, including a 15-4 victory in the decisive game to secure the program's third PSUAC title since 2022.

Kissel, Garrett Rosenberry, Garrett Worth and James Sibert led Mont Alto offensively throughout the tournament, while pitchers Elijah White and Jayden Bell delivered key performances on the mound.

Mont Alto entered the USCAA Small College World Series as the No. 3 seed and opened tournament play with wins over Miami University Hamilton and Apprentice School to advance through the bracket.

The Nittany Lions eventually met Apprentice again in the USCAA championship series. After Apprentice forced a decisive game with a 6-4 win Thursday, the Builders claimed the national championship Friday with a 6-2 victory.
