Inglewood Smoke Advisory

The Palisades Fire, currently burning in Pacific Palisades, remains 0% contained. Northeasterly winds are pushing smoke southwest towards Malibu, causing significant air quality concerns. Smoke impacts are expected to heavily affect northwest coastal Los Angeles County, including Malibu and Pacific Palisades, through Wednesday evening, with PM2.5 levels potentially reaching the Unhealthy AQI category or higher, especially near the fire.

Smoke impacts will depend on fire activity, containment efforts, and the weather. For more information about the Palisades Fire, visit CALFIRE.

Residents are encouraged to download the South Coast AQMD app or visit www.aqmd.gov/AQImap for real-time updates. Watch Duty is an app that is available for download that provides real-time updates about fires near you (Palisades, Eaton, etc).

Please consider wearing a face covering or mask if you have any pulmonary issues to avoid any unnecessary irritations.

If you are in an area impacted by smoke:

  • Limit your exposure by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed or seeking alternate shelter.
  • Avoid vigorous physical activity.
  • Run your air conditioning and/or an air purifier. If possible, do not use swamp coolers or whole house fans that bring in outside air.
  • Avoid burning wood in your fireplace or firepit and minimize sources of indoor air pollution such as candles, incense, pan-frying, and grilling.
  • If you must be outside, a properly fit N95 or P100 respirator may provide some protection.
