Statement: Bondi Beach Attack

The devastating attack at Bondi Beach on 14 December 2025 targeted at the Jewish community has shocked Australia and the world.

The senseless loss of more innocent lives, in another act of hate, is impossible to fathom and a shock to us all.

Our thoughts are with the Jewish community, within RMIT and beyond, and those personally impacted by this tragedy.

The effect of such a devastating act of violence on the broader community is also profound.

Violence of this nature has no place in Australia and, speaking for RMIT wherever we operate, racism and discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated on our campuses.

We all have a right to feel, and to be, safe. This makes the repercussions of this attack all the deeper, because it will have caused so many in our community to lose this fundamental expectation. Be assured that RMIT will continue to stand for nothing less.
