A 68-year-old Nashville man died this evening after he was hit by a large tow truck at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Fesslers Lane. Efforts are underway to notify his next-of-kin.
The tow truck was turning left from Murfreesboro Pike onto Fesslers Lane when the pedestrian was struck just after 5:30 p.m. Due to the size of the tow truck, it is believed that the 36-year-old driver couldn't see the pedestrian in the Murfreesboro Pike crosswalk when the vehicle started moving. It is presently thought that the pedestrian was crossing against a Don't Walk indicator.
There were no signs of impairment on behalf of either individual.
