NV Energy Provides Update on Emergency De-Energization

NV Energy restores power to approximately 700 customers while maintaining de-energizations for 1,076 customers to reduce wildfire risk

Aug 11, 2026 2:07 PM

NV Energy has restored power to approximately 700 customers while maintaining emergency de-energizations affecting 1,076 customers in areas threatened by active wildfire activity.

Due to wildfires burning near power equipment, NV Energy has de-energized electric lines serving select areas of Red Rock, Antelope Valley, Palomino Valley and Nixon. All affected customers are located in areas currently under evacuation orders or warnings due to wildfire activity.

Emergency de-energization is a proactive safety measure used when an active wildfire comes too close to power lines or other electrical infrastructure. Temporarily shutting off power helps reduce the risk that electrical equipment could contribute to fire activity through secondary ignitions.

There is currently no estimated time of restoration for customers who remain impacted by the emergency de-energizations. NV Energy understands that the lack of a timeline is frustrating and recognizes the challenges extended outages create for customers and communities. To avoid providing inaccurate information or setting expectations that may change as conditions evolve, estimated restoration times have been temporarily removed.

Power cannot be restored until fire conditions improve. The fire remains active, and NV Energy is working closely with fire officials and emergency responders to determine when conditions are safe to begin restoration activities. Because wildfire conditions can change rapidly, it is not currently possible to provide a reliable restoration estimate.

NV Energy is committed to providing updates as new information becomes available and encourages affected customers to prepare for a prolonged outage. The company's top priority is restoring power as quickly as possible while ensuring the safety of the community.
