Commissioners to explore alternate public transportation service

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FL. -- Commissioners voted to approve to start the process to terminate the current contract with the Jacksonville Transportation Authority in an effort to adjust service levels and reduce expenses at their Board meeting on September 22.

With ridership decreasing, commissioners decided to examine all options available to provide the most appropriate level of services for the demand and save taxpayer dollars.

The current contract with JTA will expire on December 31, and the county will explore other service options in the meantime. Ultimately, commissioners will decide an alternate option to continue a new level of public transportation service in Clay County by the end of the year. Current JTA services in Clay County will not change in the meantime.
