Kelly, Gallego, Stanton Announce Over $44 Million for Arizona Transportation Projects in Flagstaff, Page, Tempe

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law championed by Kelly provides funding for critical safety and accessibility improvements across Arizona

Today, Arizona Senators Mark Kelly, Ruben Gallego and Representative Greg Stanton (D-AZ-4) announced a total of $44,450,000 in RAISE grants coming to Arizona for transportation projects in Tempe, Page, and Flagstaff. These grants, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will support infrastructure upgrades that improve roadways, increase pedestrian and driver safety, and create good-paying jobs while connecting communities across Arizona.

The projects include constructing a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge in Tempe, upgrading key intersections in Page, and a critical roadway widening project in Flagstaff to enhance safety and accessibility.

"Our bipartisan infrastructure law continues to deliver real results in every corner of Arizona. These long-overdue improvements will create jobs, help keep our roadways safe for everyone, and support our growing communities," said Kelly.

"These projects will make it easier and safer for Arizonans to get where they need to go. I'm proud to have helped pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that made this funding possible, and I will continue fighting to strengthen our state's infrastructure and create good-paying jobs," said Gallego.

"Tempe Town Lake is a destination. It's one of the most-visited landmarks in the state of Arizona-anchoring a true modern downtown, with hundreds of businesses and tens of thousands of students," said Stanton. "This bridge-paid for thanks to our Bipartisan Infrastructure Law-completes a true pedestrian loop around the Lake, connecting Tempe residents to miles of urban trails, Light Rail and so much more."

"This bike and pedestrian bridge will be a vital link in our city's growing network of safe and enjoyable transportation options," said Tempe Mayor Corey Woods. "By connecting our residents and visitors to the Indian Bend Wash and Rio Salado Path systems, we're fostering a healthier and more sustainable community. The inclusion of lighting, seating, and public art ensures this bridge will not only be functional but also a beautiful and welcoming addition to our city's landscape."

"We applaud Senators Kelly and Gallego for their strong and continued support for the City of Flagstaff's priorities. This $19 million RAISE grant for Butler Avenue and Fourth Street Safety and Multimodal Improvements is critical to providing access and connectivity in the city. These improvements will ensure that Mountain Line transit has access to new areas that were previously inaccessible, will provide new bike lanes and safety improvements around this heavily used corridor and will allow for the construction of drainage improvements to ensure that these roads will not be flooded during monsoon events. We thank Senators Kelly and Gallego for their support for this critical grant project and appreciate their continued efforts for Flagstaff," said Flagstaff Mayor Becky Daggett.

"The City of Page is so grateful for Senator Kelly and his entire team for helping secure our $450K RAISE Grant," said City of Page Mayor Steve Kidman. "The City Council has made infrastructure a priority and these funds will be used as a planning tool for improvements to a major thoroughfare in our community. As a new Mayor I am especially thankful to Senator Kelly and his never-ending commitment to the small cities in Arizona."

RAISE-Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity-grants are awarded based on applications from local municipalities, allowing the Department of Transportation to invest in road, rail, transit, and port projects that promise to achieve national objectives. As a member of the bipartisan group of Senators who negotiated the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Kelly made sure the law included increased funding for RAISE Grants, helping to strengthen Arizona infrastructure projects for years to come.
