Town of FMB Reminds Property Owners of Deadline for Temporary Placement Permit Extensions

Temporary Placement Permits (TPPs), originally issued in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, are set to expire on September 23, 2025. Recognizing that recovery timelines differ for each household, the Fort Myers Beach Town Council adopted Resolution 25-251 on August 18, 2025, creating a pathway for property owners facing certain hardship situations to apply for a permit extension under clearly defined conditions.

To assist residents, the Emergency Temporary Placement Permit Extension Application - Hurricane Ian is available for download on the Town's official website: Download Application Here.

Applications must be submitted by Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. After this deadline, properties with expired permits and no application submitted will be issued a Notice of Violation and referred to a hearing. In addition, the Town is entitled to recover the fees of the Special Magistrate as well as other costs incurred as part of the enforcement process. Property owners may also face daily fines and additional penalties if no action is taken.

For more information and to access the application, visit the Town's website at www.fortmyersbeachfl.gov or contact the Permitting Department by calling (239) 765-0202 and pressing 1.
