As part of the City's new Business Spotlight program to enhance economic development and recognize local businesses, the City Council on Tuesday highlighted visionary local manufacturer Chris Kanik, the founder of Smart Cups.
Smart Cups' award-winning and breakthrough technology is propelling our community - and well beyond - toward a more sustainable future.
The City Council also recognized the outstanding efforts of retiring Chief of Police Services Captain Jason Ivins who has served this community with distinction since April 2024.
To honor the dedicated volunteers and supporters who provide humanitarian relief, the Council proclaimed March as American Red Cross Month.
Most of Tuesday's meeting focused on a Public Hearing to consider the property owner's application for the redevelopment of a portion of the Vista Del Lago apartment complex at 21622 Marguerite Parkway, a site that is part of the City's previously approved Housing Element for meeting State mandates. Last month, the City's Planning and Transportation Commission voted to recommend City Council approval of the plans. The discussions included a review of the submitted plans (beginning on page 210 at this link), specifics of State law, the City's State-certified Housing Element, and public comments from residents. The item was approved by a Council vote of 3-2.
The City Council regularly meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Meetings are streamed live on the City's website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
