Effective Higher Education Leader Named AVP for Enrollment Management

Brandon Vinson Brings Experience in Developing Student-Centered Approach

MEDIA CONTACT: Damita Chambers, [email protected], 301-832-2628 mobile (BOWIE, Md.) - A higher education leader with success in creating a student-centered approach for admissions and financial aid administration was named the assistant vice president for enrollment management at Bowie State University, after a national search. Brandon Vinson will begin his role on July 15, 2020, at Maryland's first historically black college and university (HBCU). He will lead the undergraduate admission office and help oversee the financial aid and registrar's offices. He will also help develop and implement strategies to meet the university's enrollment goals through targeted local, regional and national student recruitment, as well as streamlined enrollment and financial aid processes. He joins Bowie State from West Chester University, where he served as the assistant vice president of financial aid. He previously worked as the executive director of financial aid at the University of Baltimore and senior director of student financial services at LIM College. He began his higher education career as a financial aid processor at the Career Education Corporation. As a leader in student finance, Vinson managed a holistic enrollment management portfolio and developed an approach focused on student success from the initial inquiry through graduation and beyond. He established student-centric financial policies that aided enrollment, retention and revenue for several schools, which supported efforts to design dynamic student experiences. Vinson holds a master's degree in industrial and organizational psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the educational leadership and management program at Capella University.
