I-15 traffic changes expected next week as paving continues near Fort Hall

POCATELLO - The Idaho Transportation Department plans to close lanes and shift traffic on southbound Interstate 15 next week as crews pave and stripe the interstate. Work will take place from the Sheepskin Road Bridge to south of the Fort Hall Interchange (Exit 80).
Next week, motorists can expect:

  • I-15 lane closures from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday-Friday (Nov. 9-13).
  • At least one lane of southbound I-15 to remain open.
  • Changing traffic patterns on I-15 during paving.
  • Trucks frequently entering and exiting the work zone.
  • Work is weather-dependent and may be delayed due to conditions.

If traveling on southbound I-15 during peak afternoon travel times, consider an alternate route. These closures will allow crews to pave and stripe southbound I-15, continue work on the concrete median barrier separating opposing directions of traffic, and install guardrail and drainage infrastructure along I-15.

Construction began in fall 2024 to improve safety and capacity by widening I-15 to three lanes in each direction between Northgate and Fort Hall. The project is expected to be completed in 2027.

Motorists are encouraged to stay alert for traffic changes, follow work zone signage and drive the posted speed limit. Visit 511.idaho.gov to plan your route in advance and prepare for potential delays.
