Sweden to host the next meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has welcomed that Sweden will host the next meeting of Allied Ministers of Foreign Affairs. It will take place in Helsingborg, a coastal city in southern Sweden, on 21-22 May 2026.

Mr. Rutte said, "I am pleased that ministers are meeting in Sweden, a highly valued Ally that makes many important contributions to Euro-Atlantic security."

This is the first time Sweden will host NATO ministers since it joined the Alliance in March 2024.

The Secretary General explained that the gathering of Ministers of Foreign Affairs is an important milestone. He said, "NATO is delivering on its key priorities, increased defence spending, more defence production, and strong support for Ukraine.

Ministers will address how we can continue to make good progress in these crucial areas. Their work in Helsingborg will help lay the groundwork for the next summit of NATO Heads of State and Government held in Ankara this July."
