The world against the blockade: an undeniable truth.
New York, October 28, 2025.- On October 28 and 29, the resolution "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba" was presented to the United Nations General Assembly.
While posters demanding the immediate end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba were displayed in the streets of New York, the United Nations General Assembly opened its doors to debate on the annual resolution entitled "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba."
The statements from more than seven groups of countries, including the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Non-Aligned Movement, the Group of 77, and China, which spoke on behalf of more than 100 states, in addition to 22 individual national interventions, constituted a lesson in solidarity.
In contrast to this massive support, the White House representative displayed his disrespect and imperial arrogance with a speech riddled with lies and hatred, which was silenced by the forceful intervention of Foreign Minister Ruño Rodríguez Parrilla, who denounced the US ambassador for speaking in "an uncivilized, crude, and rude manner" and reminded him that "this is the United Nations General Assembly. It is not a Signal chat room, nor is it your country's House of Representatives."
Throughout the day, recurring expressions were heard reflecting the sentiment of the international community in defense of our claim, such as: "This blockade must end," "It is a punishment against Cuba," "It has been a heavy burden on Cuba's development," and "Enough with the sanctions."
The day concluded with a moving tribute from the Cuban delegation and members of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the UN to the hero of Yaguajay, Camilo Cienfuegos, on the 66th anniversary of his death.
When the Cuban resolution is voted on this Wednesday, the international community's clear and firm call for the United States to cease its obsolete and anachronistic policy will once again prevail. This policy, which has been condemned almost unanimously at the United Nations for more than thirty years, reflects Cuba's sovereign right to develop freely.
