Capito Secures CDS Award for Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Company

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a leader on the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) award for the Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Company for the construction of a new fire station.

This award, which was secured through a CDS request made solely by Senator Capito in Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26), will be used to construct a new fire station to replace their current facility.

"As Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Company continues to modernize, the need for improvement is critical. This funding is one step in the process of directing the needed resources to provide Ridgeley, Carpendale, and the surrounding communities with the technology and adequate resources to improve preparedness," Senator Capito said. "As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I am proud to have helped utilize the CDS process to help make this project a reality."

"We are incredibly grateful to Senator Shelley Moore Capito for her unwavering support and tireless advocacy on behalf of Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Company," Deputy Chief Rodney Twyman said. "Her commitment to helping rural and volunteer fire departments ensures that we can continue to protect our neighbors, our families, and our little slice of Almost Heaven."

  • $2,841,000 Capito CDS award to Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Company (Ridgeley, W.Va.) to construct a new fire station to replace their current 54-year-old facility.
