Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs attends the 204th Anniversary of Guatemala's Independence celebration


On 29 September 2025, Mr. Paisan Rupanichkij, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and former Ambassador to the Republic of Guatemala with residence in Mexico City, attended the celebration of the 204th anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Guatemala at Chatrium Riverside Hotel, Bangkok.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary delivered an opening remark alongside H.E. Ms. Shirley Dennise Aguilar Barrera, Ambassador of Guatemala to Thailand, highlighting the cordial Thailand - Guatemala relations and close cooperation across various sectors, including economic ties, people-to-people exchanges, and technical and multilateral cooperation. He also shared his experience serving as Ambassador to Guatemala, notably during the celebration of the 65th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the two countries in 2022 with commemorative activities including the presentation of a Kinnaree statue to the Government of Guatemala, and the appointment of a new Honorary Consul of Thailand in Guatemala City. He reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to further strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.

Thailand and Guatemala established diplomatic relations on 7 March 1957. Guatemala is Thailand's 9th largest trading partner in Latin America and the Caribbean, with bilateral trade volume reaching USD 167 million in 2024.
