Congressman Shri Thanedar Introduces 10 Amendments to Trump's Reconciliation Bill to Hold the Department of Homeland Security Accountable

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Shri Thanedar (D-MI), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security's Oversight, Investigations, and Accountability Subcommittee, introduced 10 amendments for the Department of Homeland Security's Reconciliation Bill.

"Donald Trump's DHS reconciliation bill gifts billions of dollars to a cruel and unaccountable immigration enforcement system," said Rep. Shri Thanedar. "My amendments would stop taxpayer dollars from funding warehouse detention while increasing accountability through body-worn cameras, ending qualified immunity for ICE agents, and ensuring people in detention centers have access to food, medical care, and clean facilities."

The amendments are as follows:

1. Restricting Funding for Warehouse Detention Facilities
2. Restricting Funding for ICE
3. Restricting Funding for ICE in Sensitive Locations
4. Restricting Funding for Use of Face Masks by Immigration Enforcement Officers
5. Restricting Funding for Private Detention Facilities
6. Restricting Funding for Contracts with MAGA Political Donors
7. Transfer of One Big Beautiful Bill Act Amounts to the Department of Homeland Security for Ensuring Access to Meals, Medical Attention, and Cleanliness
8. Transfer of One Big Beautiful Bill Act Amounts to the Department of Homeland Security for Ensuring Body-Worn Cameras on Immigration Enforcement Officers
9. Inserts the Ending Qualified Immunity for ICE Agents Act
10. Inserts the Abolish ICE Act
